Recently, scientists have stated that time may not exist as we know it, and is only relevant and evident from inside reality. That outside reality, time is not relative and events and consequences exist simultaneously. Similarly, scientists have theorized, and quantum computing has recently confirmed that the nature and origin of the universe is either born of an infinite intelligence, a running simulation, or one of an infinite number of universes simultaneously existing in a multiverse of infinite possibilities. Who created the Universe? That question looms large. For as we dive deeper into quantum intelligence for the answer, by creating machines that are capable of perfectly simulating the existing universe - in search of that answer, will we find that the universe we inhabit was created by us all along? That our quest to understand the nature of reality has brought us to create that reality in a system working in the quantum realm, where reality is known to manifest from moment-to-moment? And in a twist of fate, and within the paradox of relative time, the universe may not have existed without us. The most unnerving revelation may be that some of us would decide we are God. Does the wave function that is reality then collapse into nothingness? Have we eaten the forbidden fruit? Is ignorance truly bliss?

It is. I mean, it's one of those late night, you know, staring at the ceiling kind of questions. But what if the answer isn't just philosophical? What if the literal physical answer is uh being calculated right now in a lab?

Yeah, that is exactly what we're looking at.

Today our mission on this deep dive is to unpack a truly mind-bending set of theories from futurist and quantum theorist Sherrod and Forge. We are uh looking specifically at excerpts from a piece called the Quantum Architect Paradox.

And you really need to brace yourself for the concepts Forge is laying out here because I mean the stakes challenge our most fundamental understanding of, well, everything.

We live our lives assuming time is this universal constant. Like we have a past, a present, and a future. But Forge asserts that time may not actually exist as we know it.

To the characters inside the film, time is passing minute by minute, right? The characters don't know what is going to happen in the next scene because they are bound by the timeline of the narrative.

Right. They are inside the system.

Speaker

Exactly. But to the person holding the physical disc outside of that reality, the beginning, the middle, and the end all physically coexist in the palm of their hand. The climax of the film and the opening credits are, you know, stamped onto the same static object.

The DVD analogy is a decent starting point for understanding an external perspective. But uh according to Forge's quantum framework, a DVD is actually a bit too static.

Too static. How so?

Speaker 1

Well, imagine instead an immensely complex procedurally generated video game. The code for the entire game, every possible ending, every possible landscape exists on the hard drive simultaneously. But the reality of that game world only actively renders or takes shape the second a player's character walks into a new room. So from outside the game, the total potential of the universe is a simultaneous fact.

Right.

From inside the game, it's experienced sequentially.

Wait, I'm struggling with the logic here. If time outside our universe is simultaneous and already, you know, finished and all possible states already exist in this cosmic hard drive. Yeah. How does science even begin to explain where the hard drive came from? I mean, how do you even define an origin or a creator if there's no actual linear before to kick things off?

That exact friction, the breakdown of traditional cause and effect, is what has driven physicists to look at quantum computing for answers.

Because normal physics just fails there.

Speaker 1

Exactly. When traditional linear physics can't explain an origin point, you have to look at the math underlying reality itself. So the origin of that system has to account for how information is processed. If the universe is a rigid system with specifically tuned mathematical constants, like gravity and the speed of light, it suggests top-down design.

Is this like writing a novel where a character inside the book suddenly realizes they're fictional, manages to find a typewriter within the story, types out the rest of the manuscript themselves, and then somehow mails it back in time to the author so the book can be published in the first place?

That is a remarkably accurate way to frame it. The character's action in the middle of the story is what creates the beginning of the story. It is a concept called retrocausality. Retrocausality. But practically speaking, um, how? How does processing power or a machine built in the year 2050 spark the Big Bang billions of years ago? How does a future event rewrite the past?

It is all driving us toward this ultimate technological breakthrough of perfect quantum simulation. But that very finish line might also be the deletion of reality.

It is the ultimate cosmic trap.

Speaker

To quickly recap this absolutely wild journey we've been on, Forge starts by ripping away our traditional understanding of a ticking clock, showing us that outside our universe, time is simultaneous. It's a flat structure where the beginning and end already exist. Right. From there, the mathematics of quantum computing narrow the universe's origin down to three information-based realities: top-down infinite intelligence, a rendered simulation, or an infinitely branching multiverse.

And because we are driven to find out which one of those three it is, we try to build perfect replicas of the universe using quantum technology.

Exactly. But because quantum systems use future measurements to lock in past probabilities, that future active simulation might retroactively be the event that sparked the Big Bang. We are the infinite intelligence that birthed our own timeline.
